A sparkling 4th

We were able to drive out and spend the 4th of July in Denver with my family. It was so much fun! I flew home from Denver Sat. and spent the next few days unpacking, doing laundry and then repacking to drive back out on Thursday night. We got in late but were able to get a good nights rest. Friday we spent sometime in the morning visiting with Ash and Ry as they had just come out from UT. We put the boys (including Mat) down for naps and I met Brittany (my baby sis) at the pool. It was so fun to just relax and hang out with her. We went for a great hike in Castlewood Canyon and caught crawdads and even a water snake.
We are now officially weird dog people as you'll see in the pictures we took our German Shephard, Lue, with us on the trip. She was fabulous! Never made a peep in the car and had fun with the kids there. She enjoyed the hike and especially the creek as well. That night we had a great bbq at Kim and Calvins and then watched a much anticipated neighborhood fireworks display get busted up by the cops. As you can see in the pictures Derek is terrified of fireworks and cries while holding his ears. We aren't sure where it started from but it was somewhat annoying. Will just took it all in in style.
Saturday morning we went with my brothers family over to walk around outside the Temple, unfortunately it is closed for cleaning). It was neat to talk with the boys and have them see where Mat and I were married. That afternoon we were able to see Ella be baptized, it was a beautiful baptism. (Derek has since attempted to baptize Will in the bathtub...frightening moment, thankful we were right there.) We had a great dinner and visit at Tawna and Mikes that afternoon/evening and then did Smores at Ry and Tam's late that night. It was so fun to sit out and visit, tell scary camping stories and just relax together, after the kids were all in bed.
Sunday morning we had early church and ran into Mat's cousin Brynn. It was so fun to catch up with him and hear the latest happenings with his family. We then got loaded up and went over to Poelmans for the blessing of Kate and also Trevor Shupe (Ash and Ry's new little guy). Beautiful blessings and again, so fun to be together. We said our goodbyes, ate a quick and fabulous lunch and were on our way.
It was a fast and furious weekend but one that we were so grateful we were able to be a part of.
