Today is a big day in our household. "Take me out to the ballgame..." a song that has been heard frequently around our house the last week. Derek now requests it, "Mom, sing ballgame song". So happy to say the Royals beat the Detroit Tigers today 5 to 4 in the 11th inning. My husband is a happy man. Few things as great as opening day in his mind. We're looking forward to going to some games this season and cheering on our team (really they're his team). For those of you that don't know, Mat has always been a huge Royals fan. It started when he lived here when he was 2-3 and then stuck with him. It has been a painful love affair as they have struggled for a while now. What a treat it was when we found out we were moving here and he could actually regularly attend games (he flew out here a few years ago and met his Dad for a game and a tour of the stadium, the rest of the people on tour were under age 8)! Mat has high hopes for the future of the Royals, the new manager Trey Hillman and the new additions to Kauffman stadium. Looking forward to a fun (though for me sometimes long) 6+ months of baseball. Play ball & Go Royals!

That is so fun for Mat. I was remembering that time when we went to the Padres game and decided to take the trolley...good times. You better eat a yummy hot dog for me. There is nothing better than a hotdog at a baseball game.
